NBR/PVC rubber-plastic sponge is a flexible insulation material made from nitrile rubber and PVC. The referenced thermal-insulation product is described as a soft black closed-cell foam designed for cold and heat insulation applications.
Existing product information lists thermal conductivity of approximately 0.034 W/m·K at an average temperature of 0°C and a moisture resistance factor of ≥10,000 for the described insulation material.
The material can be supplied in sheet and pipe forms for suitable HVAC and refrigeration applications. It is used for insulation of refrigeration equipment, chilled-water pipes, condenser-water pipes, air ducts and hot-water pipes.
The existing product information identifies an operating range from approximately -40°C to 110°C. Final temperature suitability should be confirmed for the selected foam grade and installation structure.
Flexible NBR/PVC rubber foam can be used for thermal insulation in central air-conditioning systems, ductwork and HVAC equipment where reduced heat transfer and moisture control are required.
The flexible structure allows the material to be fitted around suitable duct and equipment surfaces. Sheets can also be cut into customized dimensions according to installation requirements.
Adhesive backing can be added where easier positioning on suitable metal duct surfaces is required.
Low-temperature pipelines can be exposed to condensation when the surface temperature falls below the dew point of the surrounding air. Insulation materials for these systems therefore need both thermal performance and resistance to moisture penetration.
The referenced NBR/PVC thermal insulation grade is intended for applications including chilled-water pipes and condenser-water pipes. Its flexible foam construction allows insulation around suitable piping and equipment geometries.
Required insulation thickness depends on pipe temperature, ambient temperature, humidity, pipe diameter and system design and should be determined for the specific project.
NBR/PVC rubber foam can be used as flexible thermal insulation around suitable refrigeration units, equipment panels and associated piping systems.
The combination of low thermal conductivity, flexibility and moisture resistance makes the referenced grade suitable for cold-insulation applications where condensation control is important.
| Application | Typical Function |
| Central Air Conditioning | Thermal insulation for suitable HVAC piping, duct and equipment applications. |
| Refrigeration Units | Cold insulation for suitable equipment and associated system components. |
| Chilled-Water Pipes | Reduces heat transfer and supports condensation-control design. |
| Condenser-Water Pipes | Flexible pipe insulation for suitable HVAC system conditions. |
| Air Ducts | Flexible insulation for suitable flat and curved duct surfaces. |
| Hot-Water Pipes | Thermal insulation to help reduce heat loss under suitable operating conditions. |
| Industrial Equipment | Thermal insulation, flexible cushioning and selected vibration-control applications. |
Thermal conductivity indicates how readily heat passes through an insulation material. A lower value means the material transfers heat more slowly under the stated test conditions.
The existing product description lists thermal conductivity of approximately 0.034 W/m·K at an average temperature of 0°C for the referenced NBR/PVC insulation material.
Actual insulation-system performance also depends on material thickness, installation quality, operating temperature and environmental conditions.
Moisture control is particularly important on chilled-water and refrigeration systems. Water vapor entering an insulation system can reduce thermal performance and contribute to condensation-related problems.
The existing product information describes the referenced NBR/PVC insulation material as having a moisture resistance factor of ≥10,000. This characteristic supports its use in suitable low-temperature insulation systems.
Joints, seams, penetrations and exposed edges should still be handled according to the design requirements of the complete insulation system.
Flexible rubber foam is easier to form around suitable pipes, elbows, equipment surfaces and ductwork than rigid insulation materials in many applications.
Topsun can supply NBR/PVC foam in different widths and thicknesses and can provide cutting or adhesive backing according to suitable installation requirements.
For prefabricated duct applications, wider foam formats can also help reduce the number of separate pieces required during installation.
The elasticity of NBR/PVC rubber foam allows it to act as a flexible interface between suitable equipment components. It can help attenuate vibration at joints, supports, suspensions and panel interfaces.
Where vibration damping is a primary requirement, density, thickness, compression and equipment load should be evaluated according to the actual assembly.
Material selection should consider the complete insulation system rather than density or thickness alone.
