Applications of XPE Foam Sheet

XPE foam sheet for steel pipe coating and protection

Steel pipe coating and protection: XPE foam is suitable for pipe wrapping, steel pipe protection, impact absorption and anti-corrosion support applications.

Water and moisture resistance: The closed-cell structure helps prevent water and moisture penetration, which is useful for protecting steel from corrosion.

Chemical resistance: XPE foam resists damage from oils and solvents, making it suitable for many industrial environments.

Impact absorption: It provides impact damping and vibration control, helping protect pipes and equipment from physical stress.

Durability and flexibility: The cross-linking process improves durability and tear resistance while keeping the foam flexible for shaping and installation.

Lightweight: XPE foam is easy to handle and install, which helps reduce labor and handling difficulty in fabrication projects.

What Is XPE Foam Sheet?

XPE foam, or chemically crosslinked polyethylene foam, is produced in continuous rolls with a uniform closed-cell structure and smooth skins on both sides. It is lightweight, flexible, soft to the touch, tough, resilient and resistant to moisture, many chemicals and temperature changes.

Compared with non-crosslinked polyethylene foam, XPE foam provides improved thermal stability, better insulation performance and stronger dimensional consistency across fabrication and end-use conditions. It is widely used for thermal insulation, moisture resistance, sound absorption and vibration control.

XPE foam sheets and rolls are used in building and construction, pipe protection, container insulation, backpack padding, luggage, packaging, automotive parts, flooring underlayment and custom laminated foam products.

Applicable Processing Technology for XPE Foam

Hot press molding: Place the baked material in a mold of a certain shape, hot press and cool to form the final shape.

Blister molding: Heat the mold, put the sheet or coil material into the mold, evacuate the air and cool to shape.

Thermal bonding: Heat and compound different materials with XPE foam for composite foam products.

Punching: Punch the material into customer-required shapes through hydraulic punching machines, CNC engraving machines or other equipment.

Lamination: Use PE as the medium to compound different materials with XPE foam.

Embossing: Press patterns onto XPE foam through rollers for anti-slip, decorative or functional surface effects.

Custom XPE Foam Sheet, Roll, Lamination and Adhesive Options

Topsun can supply XPE foam in sheets, rolls, strips, tapes, laminated foam, adhesive-backed foam, molded foam and custom die-cut parts. Custom options include density, expansion ratio, thickness, width, length, color, adhesive backing, release liner, lamination material, surface embossing and cutting shape.

For pipe coating, insulation or packaging projects, customers should confirm thickness, density, roll width, application surface, moisture requirement, thermal insulation requirement, cushioning requirement, adhesive requirement and estimated order quantity before quotation.
