Main Characteristics of Flame Retardant IXPE Foam

Flame-retardant option: Flame-retardant IXPE foam can be developed for applications that need improved fire safety performance. Specific flame-retardant requirements should be confirmed by required test standard and end-use environment.

Thermal insulation: The independent closed-cell structure can reduce energy exchange caused by air convection, making IXPE suitable for refrigerator, air-conditioning, HVAC and thermal insulation materials.

Impact resistance: IXPE is a semi-rigid foam material that can recover after compression. It is suitable for precision instruments, semiconductors, electronics and protective packaging applications.

Sound absorption: The closed-cell structure can help reduce noise, making IXPE suitable for automotive, e-bike and equipment sound-damping applications.

Excellent processing ability: IXPE has good heat resistance, ductility and even density. Vacuum forming and hot forming are available for automotive air conditioner parts, roof interiors and molded components.

Easy to customize: IXPE can be cut into different shapes, laminated with different materials, embossed, punched, die cut and supplied with adhesive backing.

Advantages of Flame Retardant IXPE Foam

Flame retardant IXPE foam provides waterproof performance, moisture resistance, insulation, buffering, resilience, heat preservation, thermal insulation, weather resistance, ageing resistance, corrosion resistance, light weight and easy processing. These advantages make it suitable for both industrial mass production and custom foam converting projects.

For applications with fire safety requirements, customers should confirm the target test standard, flame-retardant level, product thickness, density, lamination material and final installation environment. This helps ensure that the selected IXPE foam grade matches the project requirements.

Processing Methods of IXPE Foam

Hot press molding: Place the baked material in a mold of a certain shape, hot press and cool to form the final shape.

Blister molding: Heat the mold, put the sheet or coil material into the mold, evacuate the air and cool to shape.

Thermal bonding: Heat and compound different materials with IXPE foam for composite foam products.

Punching: Punch the foam material into customer-required shapes through hydraulic punching machines, CNC engraving machines or other equipment.

Lamination: Use PE as the medium to compound different materials with IXPE foam.

Embossing: Press patterns onto IXPE foam through rollers for anti-slip, decorative or functional surface effects.

Applications of Flame Retardant IXPE Foam

Flame retardant IXPE foam is suitable for automotive interiors, automotive roof liners, air conditioner parts, electronic component protection, battery and electrical insulation pads, construction insulation, HVAC insulation, packaging inserts, sound-damping materials, sports pads, medical products and custom die-cut foam parts.

Because IXPE foam is lightweight, soft, resilient and easy to laminate, it is also suitable for composite materials, adhesive foam tapes, protective liners, cushioning rolls, molded foam parts and industrial safety foam components.
